\nDespite warm doubts, cold terms severely bind.

\nIt all sounds dismal, murky, and too bleak;
\nLife\u2019s prime torment, do we endure alone?
\nOr can a sober truth we bravely seek,
\nTo know our lease will be inscribed on stone?
